Forse qualcuno sorriderà al solo sentir parlare delle 100 presenze di Francesco Totti nelle Coppe Europee, chiaramente, superfluo aggiungerlo, tutte esclusivamente con una sola maglia, quella della Roma.
Come al solito però i numeri vanno letti, vanno contestualizzati, vanno inseriti all’interno di altri numeri e altre situazioni, e allora sì che avranno un sapore diverso, allora sì che magari quel ghigno di scherno può trasformarsi in una bocca aperta per lo stupore.
Il dato che vogliamo sottolineare è che le 100 presenze europee del Capitano acquisiscono senza dubbio un valore diverso se diciamo che rappresentano oltre il 42% del totale delle gare continentali giocate dalla As Roma nella sua storia (considerando la Coppa dei Campioni/Champions League, la Coppa delle Coppe e la Coppa Uefa/Europa League).
Dall’esordio contro il Neuchatel il 12 settembre 1995 a oggi il n. 10 giallorosso ha segnato in 30 occasioni, 38 gol (17 in Champions e 21 in Uefa/Europa League, con 4 doppiette e due triplette realizzate). Sono 21 le reti realizzate in casa contro le 17 segnate in trasferta; a tal proposito sottolineiamo le reti al Bernabeu, alla Gerland, al Mestalla e all’Etihad.
Sono stati 11 gli allenatori “europei” di Francesco Totti, a partire da Mazzone per finire con Luciano Spalletti, con il tosano che è il tecnico che lo ha fatto giocare di più (34) oltre ad essere quello con cui ha realizzato più reti (19).
Il Real Madrid è la squadra affrotata più volte (8) e tra le compagini più blasonate del vecchio continente, affontate dal recordman giallorosso, sottolineiamo oltre alle merengues anche Barcellona, Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Monaco, Ajax e Bayer Leverkusen.
